Police have arrested the suspect believed to be responsible for Wednesday’s stabbing death of a 61-year-old man in Las Cruces.

Gary Allyn, 60, was arrested Wednesday evening and is charged with an open count of murder.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, Las Cruces police were dispatched to the report of a stabbing at an apartment on the 1600 block of Missouri Avenue. Officers arrived to find a 61-year-old man inside the apartment with multiple stab wounds.
The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. His identity will not be released until next of kin have been properly notified.
Also in the apartment was Allyn who had blood on his hands, legs and shorts. Investigators gathered information that identified Allyn as the suspect in the 61-year-old man’s death.
Allyn was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he is initially being held without bond.
