Trio of Aggies Earn Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar Honors

Three Aggie men’s golfers garnered recognition for their efforts on and off the course during the 2023-24 season. Javier DelgadilloAlvaro Morales and River Smalley were among a list of 532 NCAA Division I athletes from 180 schools to earn Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate’s Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, Division I honorees must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0 while maintaining a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
 
Delgadillo finished his second year with the Aggie program with a 72.1 scoring average while posting a season-best finish at the Aggies’ home tournament where he earned the individual title after shooting 10-under to take home the trophy. The sophomore from El Paso, Texas, is a finance major and is currently maintaining a 3.59 GPA entering his junior year.
 
Morales wrapped up his senior season with the Crimson and White and finished the year with a 73.4 scoring average. He turned in three top-20 finishes this past season, including a 16th-place finish at the Conference USA Championships in April. As a student, Morales is working towards a degree in mechanical engineering and is currently maintaining a 3.22 GPA.
 
A fellow senior, Smalley posted a 73.9 scoring average during the 2023-24 season and posted a top-10 finish at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in addition to a t-22 finish at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The native of Farmington, N.M., earned his degree in PGA Marketing this summer and finished his tenure at NM State with a 3.65 GPA.
