Las Cruces Public Schools, together with Mayfield High School, announces the addition of Ben Trujillo as the new head coach of the Trojan boys basketball program.

Trujillo, a high school basketball coach for 37 years, is the husband of the late LCPS Superintendent Karen Trujillo. He is known for building winning programs in both boys and girls basketball programs and is regarded as one of the top coaches in New Mexico.
Outside of basketball, Coach T, as his players know him, is an accomplished educator and leader. He has served in several educational capacities, is a respected local businessman and is a father of three children: Taralyn, 28, Timothy, 24, and Tavyn, 22. His granddaughter, Brooklyn, recently turned two years old.
“I’m excited for the challenge,” said Trujillo. “This is a great opportunity, and I look forward to being on the court to make a difference for our community and for Trojan basketball.”
Mayfield High School will host an opportunity for players, parents and the community to welcome Coach T to the Trojan family on Monday, April 29 at 6 p.m. in the MHS cafeteria.
