Deputy Secretary Torres Small spent the week visiting with producers, stakeholders and schoolchildren in the West.

She began the week in Sacramento, California, where she and Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP) Jenny Lester Moffitt hosted a roundtable discussion with young farmers. The Deputy Secretary then crossed state lines to Fallon, Nevada, where she visited a local farm to highlight USDA’s recent investment of $400 million to address continued drought and help farmers continue commodity production while conserving water.

On Tuesday, she participated in the Good Food Forum in Tucson, Arizona, hosted by Local First Arizona, and on Wednesday visited Garfield Elementary School in Phoenix to highlight USDA’s Farm to School work and the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts around nutrition.
