Teaming Up: Sunland Park Police Officially “Cross-Commissioned” with Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office

The City of Sunland Park proudly announces that the Sunland Park Police Department has been officially cross-commissioned by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office.

The ceremony, held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Sunland Park Multi-Generational Center, brought together officers from both agencies in a joint effort to strengthen law enforcement collaboration across southern Doña Ana County.

Through this partnership, Sunland Park police officers will now have expanded authority to operate across jurisdictional lines, improving coordination, communication, and public safety for residents throughout the region.

The ceremony was led by Sheriff Kim Stewart and Acting Chief A. Morales, who emphasized the importance of unified law enforcement in protecting and serving the community.

This initiative marks another step forward in fostering cooperation between local and county agencies, ensuring faster response times and a more seamless approach to regional safety.
