On November 7, 2025, Las Cruces Libraries proudly celebrated 90 years of library service in Las Cruces. This milestone marks the anniversary of the opening of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, the city’s first public library, which opened its doors in 1935.

Las Cruces Libraries were honored to welcome Mayor Eric Enriquez, Councilor Cassie McClure, and Quality of Life Director Carol Brey as special guests during the celebration.

Following the presentation, guests enjoyed a reception hosted by the wonderful library staff, where they had the chance to reflect on the past, present, and future of Branigan Library. Light refreshments and cake were served to mark the occasion.

Be sure to visit the Branigan Cultural Center to explore their exhibit, “Ninety Years of Las Cruces Public Libraries.” The exhibit will be on display through December 20, 2025.
