The City of Las Cruces, in partnership with Tierra Del Sol Housing Corporation, proudly announces the groundbreaking of the Skylark Subdivision, a new single-family affordable housing development that will bring 32 high-quality homes to the East Mesa.
Located near Mesa Drive and Central Road, the Skylark Subdivision represents a significant opportunity to expand affordable homeownership options in a rapidly growing part of the city. With 32 single-family homes targeted to households earning up to 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI), the project supports both housing affordability and long-term neighborhood revitalization. The subdivision is made possible through a $1,400,000 investment from the State of New Mexico, funded through the Office of Housing.

The ceremony featured remarks from Tomas Mendez, Board President of Tierra del Sol Housing Corporation, and Rose Garcia, Executive Director of Tierra del Sol.
“Today’s groundbreaking is an important milestone in our efforts to expand homeownership opportunities for Las Cruces residents,” said Natalie Green, Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Administrator. “Skylark will expand access to homeownership, a growing challenge in today’s housing market. We deeply appreciate Tierra del Sol’s partnership and commitment to our community.”
Tierra del Sol Executive Director Rose Garcia emphasized the organization’s mission-driven approach: “Our work is rooted in the belief that strong communities begin with strong housing. Skylark reflects this mission by offering families high-quality, affordable single-family homes in Las Cruces. We are honored to continue our longstanding partnership with the city.”
Construction of the Skylark Subdivision is expected to be completed by May 2026, with homebuyer opportunities anticipated to open shortly after.
