Holiday Closures: City of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County and NMDOH Release Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule 2025

Most City and County offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. Emergency services, including police and fire will operate as usual.

  • A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices) will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • City Hall will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28. 
  • Foothills Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Amador Transfer Station, 2885 W. Amador Ave., will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
  • Corralitos Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
  • Doña Ana County solid waste collection sites will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
  • Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Las Cruces Museum System, including Branigan Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science, and the Railroad Museum, will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Las Cruces Public Libraries, including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, branch libraries at Munson Center and Sage Café, will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28. 
  • Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
  • Las Cruces Natatorium will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
  • Rio Grande Theatre will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Roadrunner Transit services will not operate Thanksgiving Day.
  • All Senior Programs facilities and services will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.
  • Visit Las Cruces will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28.

Operating, or open, with hours, includes:

  • Curbside recycling collection that was supposed to be collected on Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving Day), will instead be collected Friday, November 28, Curbside recycling collection that was supposed to be collected on Friday, November 28, will instead be collected Saturday, November 29. All operations facilities will be open to the public Friday, November 28.
  • Roadrunner Transit and Vamonos will operate on a Saturday level of service from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, November 28.
  • City Solid Waste Residential Collection and Grappler Collections through Wednesday, November 26, will occur as normal; No residential solid waste collection will occur Thanksgiving Day; both Thursday and Friday residential solid waste collections will occur Friday, November 28, beginning at 6 a.m. Collection routes not completed Friday, November 2,8 will be completed Saturday, November 29, beginning at 6 a.m.
  • City Solid Waste Commercial Collection Revised Schedule: Monday’s collections will be collected on Sunday, November 23, beginning at 6 a.m.; Tuesday’s collections will be collected on Monday, November 24, beginning at 6 am.; Wednesday’s collections will be collected on Tuesday, November 25, beginning at 6 am.; Thursday’s collections will be collected on Wednesday November 26, beginning at 6 a.m.; There will be no collections on Thursday November 28, (Thanksgiving Day); Friday and Saturday collections will run as normal.
  • Meerscheidt Recreation Center will be open from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, November 28.
  • Both the Las Cruces Natatorium and Regional Aquatic Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, November 28.

Doña Ana County Thanksgiving Day Holiday

Doña Ana County offices will be closed Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, Doña Ana Fire and Rescue, and the Detention Center, will remain in operation through the holiday.

All County offices will resume normal business hours at 8 a.m. on Monday, December 1.


Public health offices close for Thanksgiving holiday 

SANTA FE – State public health offices and administrative offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. 

All New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) offices will reopen as regularly scheduled Monday, Dec. 1.

The NMDOH Helpline, 1-833-SWNURSE (1-833-796-8773) will be available during regular business hours through the four-day weekend: Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The Helpline is staffed by nurses for health questions, health care connections and provider support.


In observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, our offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, 2025, including the National Finance Center (NFC) Contact Center.
All NFC applications will remain available during the holiday and payroll/personnel processing will continue as normally scheduled.
