New Mexico State Police Offer Thanksgiving Safety Tips to Drivers
As we approach the Thanksgiving weekend, the New Mexico State Police would like to take a moment to remind everyone of a few safety tips before hitting the highways to spend time with loved ones.
- Don’t drive impaired, plan to have a sober driver, or use a rideshare service if you plan to consume alcohol.
- Prevent distracted driving and plan ahead by checking your route before you drive. Even a moment of phone usage can cause a crash.
- Buckle up, every time-even on a short trip, seatbelts save lives.
- Prepare your vehicle for all weather conditions by checking your tire pressure and ensuring your headlights and wipers are functioning properly.
This weekend, NMSP officers across the state will work diligently to keep our roads safe. Let’s do our part to keep them safe, too. If you see flashing lights, slow down, move over, drive sober and stay alert.
New Mexico State Police added the following at the end of the announcement: “From all of us at New Mexico State Police, Happy Thanksgiving.”
