LAS CRUCES, NM – As 2026 draws nearer, the Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Society is already preparing for a new year packed with jazzy performances and opportunities to jam.
The MVJBS calendar kicks off on Jan. 18 with a favorite of the society, the David Borrego Trio, for the first monthly meeting of the year. The group includes David Borrego on guitar, Ricky Malichi on drums, and Hector Olea on upright bass.
UPDATE (January 16): The Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Society’s monthly meeting/concert is coming up this Sunday, Jan. 18 and there was an update to the performers. The David Borrego Quartet will perform after a brief update on society happenings. Alfredo Flores is joining the group on alto sax.

Audiences can catch the trio performing throughout Las Cruces and El Paso, charming audiences with a mix of jazz standards and original compositions. All three musicians are involved in music education, and can also be found performing in their own groups and various other ensembles around the borderland.
Admission for the society’s monthly meetings is $5 for MVJBS members and $10 for non-members. Ticketing information is available online at mvjazzblues.net.

Audiences will enjoy a mix of seasoned and advancing musicians playing and singing with the house band. All are welcome to join the jam or sit back with the audience.
