Taylor Talks: An Archaeological Perspective on Hunting in New Mexico January 17

Hunting has always played a pivotal role in Native American subsistence and culture. This presentation explores the archaeology and history of hunting in New Mexico from the arrival of hunters and gatherers to the twenty-first century. This Taylor talk will be presented by Matthew J. Barbour. He holds BA and MA degrees in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico. Throughout his career, he has published over 200 nonfiction articles and monographs. In 2012 and 2014, he was awarded the City of Santa Fe Heritage Preservation Award for Excellence in Archaeology. Barbour is currently deputy director of New Mexico Historic Sites.

This free talk will take place at the Mesilla Community Center located at 2251 Calle de Santiago, Mesilla, NM, 88046. Doors will open to the public at 1:30 p.m.
