The City of Las Cruces Quality of Life Department, Las Cruces Public Art program, and the City Art Board hosted the dedication ceremony of Forged in Service, the public art sculpture recently installed at Fire Station 6.

Forged In Service was created by artist Trevor O’Tool (@trevorotool). The artwork was inspired by the perseverance and dedication of the men and women who serve as firefighters, depicted in a stylized figure in full safety gear.

Funding for the sculpture was provided by the Public Safety General Obligation Bond (GO Bond), which allocated 2% of the total amount of the bond towards public art per Ordinance 2988. Public art projects at Fire Station 1 and Fire Station 9 (currently under construction) were also made possible with this allocation.
