Las Cruces Public Schools is now accepting nominations for the 2027 LCPS Principal of the Year and the Service and Leadership Professional of the Year, honoring a deserving principal and district professional whose leadership, service, and dedication strengthen schools, support students, and advance the mission of LCPS.

Nominations are open to staff, parents, students, and community members. The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, February 4, 2026. 

The district will recognize honorees in two categories: 

2027 Principal of the Year 

This award honors an outstanding school principal whose leadership fosters a positive campus culture, strengthens instructional practices, and drives student success. The Principal of the Year exemplifies vision, collaboration, and a deep commitment to the school community.  

Eligibility: 

Open to current LCPS school principals. Please click here to nominate.  

2027 Service and Leadership Professional of the Year 

This award recognizes a non-principal LCPS professional whose role advances student success through leadership, service, and specialized expertise. Honorees support schools and the district through guidance, coordination, advocacy, and direct service—leading through influence and serving through action. 

Eligibility: 

Open to employees in designated professional roles, including counselors, social workers, coordinators, assistant principals, therapists, nurses, specialists, analysts, interpreters, and other service- and leadership-focused positions outlined in the award criteria. Please click here to nominate.
