The final home meet of the season arrives with history, logistics, and legacy all converging in the same pool.
New Mexico State and the University of New Mexico will meet Saturday, January 31, at the Las Cruces Natatorium in a collegiate dual swim meet hosted by the City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department. First races are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m., with diving scores folded in from competition earlier in the week.

To accommodate the event, the Las Cruces Natatorium will be closed to the public on Saturday. The facility will reopen under normal operating hours at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2.
This rivalry meet serves as NM State’s final home appearance of the season—and a Senior Day moment for nine Aggies who have carried the program through years of training, travel, and competition.
“We have had an incredible month of training with our seniors putting everything into the pool for the last stretch of their swimming careers,” head coach Rick Pratt said. “While we are sad to see such an impactful class have their last home meet, we are incredibly proud of all the sacrifices they have made to get to this moment.”

How the Meet Will Be Scored
Saturday’s dual meet includes both swimming and diving, with a structure that reflects a full weekend of competition.
Diving scores from the NAU Lumberjack Diving Invitational in Flagstaff, Arizona (Jan. 29–31) will count toward the overall team totals. The Lobos and Aggies will combine results from the 1-meter and 3-meter boards to form the diving portion of the dual meet.
At NAU, UNM freshman Esme Abbadi-Macintosh earned her second finals appearance in as many days, finishing eighth in the 3-meter event, while NM State junior Mira Tinani placed sixth. Platform diving concludes Saturday morning in Flagstaff before final scores are applied in Las Cruces.
Swimming events will follow a traditional dual-meet format, including sprints, distance races, and relays:
Event Order
50 back • 50 breast • 50 fly • 1000 free • 200 free • 100 back • 100 breast • 200 fly • 50 free • 100 free • 200 back • 200 breast • 500 free • 100 fly • 100 IM • 200 free relay

- Relays (2 per team): 11–4–2
- Individual events (3 per team): 9–4–3–2–1
Senior Day in the Water
For NM State, Saturday is as much about people as points.
Nine seniors will compete in their final home meet wearing Aggie colors, representing a roster that spans continents and class years. Their presence anchors a team built on international reach, depth, and continuity—values reflected across both programs in this rivalry.
As always, competition against UNM brings urgency. But this meet also serves as a marker: a moment to recognize the careers built lap by lap, season by season, in the Las Cruces Natatorium.
