UPDATE:
The suspected explosives device was removed from the store by members of the DASO bomb squad. An explosives detection K-9 and its handler cleared the store and determine it to be safe for employees and customers to return about 1:40 p.m. No injuris were reported.

Las Cruces police and members of the Dona Ana County Bomb Squad are securing what appears to be an explosive device that was taken in Tuesday to the Savers Donation Center, 2340 N. Main St.
The Savers store was evacuated and members of the bomb squad will be removing the device shortly.
Police were alerted to the device shortly before noon, Feb. 3, 2026, by employees who, apparently, located it amongst donated items.
Stores and businesses in the nearby area have been asked to shelter-in-place until the device is secured and removed.
No other information is available at this time.
