First Friday Art: Annual All-City High School Art Show Joins Las Cruces Exhibits March 6

From vivid paintings and intricate drawings to innovative ceramics and digital pieces, this upcoming exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the talented students in our local arts community.

Here’s a sneak peak at the creativity of Las Cruces’ emerging artists featured in our “Annual All-City High School Art Show!” Opening as a featured exhibit in the March edition of “First Friday on Main”, this collection of works by local students promises to be well worth the outing.

From vivid paintings and intricate drawings to innovative ceramics and digital pieces, this upcoming exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the talented students in our local arts community.

The exhibit will be on view March 6 through April 18. Opening reception and awards ceremony Friday, March 6, from 5pm to 7pm with the awards ceremony at 5:30pm.

Join Las Cruces Museums at the Branigan Cultural Center, where they will host the opening reception for the “Annual All-City High School Art Show” on display from Friday, March 6, through April 18. Meet the various local high school artists featured in this exhibit, and see the remarkable works they have created. This reception will take place from 5pm to 7pm MST on March 6.

This juried exhibition features exceptional works created by junior and senior students from Las Cruces high schools, highlighting a broader selection of the most accomplished and innovative student artworks produced during their high school years. The exhibition includes both two- and three-dimensional works, ranging from ceramics and mixed media to paintings, drawings, and more.

As a part of this reception and juried exhibit, the Foundation for Las Cruces Museums and the Potters’ Guild of Las Cruces will be presenting awards to the students for various categories, starting at 5:30pm.

Join Las Cruces Museums as they celebrate these young artists at this exhibit opening with light refreshments and enjoy their works of art! All ages are welcome for this FREE event.


What Does “First Friday on Main” Have to Offer?

Join Las Cruces Museums for the “First Friday Art Ramble” Downtown at the Las Cruces Museums. The Museum of Nature & Science, Museum of Art, and Branigan Cultural Center will be open until 7pm on March 6. Admission is FREE!

This First Friday, we are celebrating the opening of the “All-City High School Art Show” at the Branigan Cultural Center. This annual exhibit features the artwork of junior and senior high school students from around the city. Whether it is 2-D or 3-D, these art pieces show the hard work and dedication of the students of Las Cruces. Stop by from 5pm to 7pm with an award presentation beginning at 5:30pm presented by the Foundation for Las Cruces Museums and the Potter’s Guild of Las Cruces.

Next, check out the “Land of the People: Shimba Tainin kau natheure wein – Tierra Sagrada – Ndende bì Ke’ya – Naf’ole atsihem – Nde benah – Ndee Bikáá.” The “Land of the People” exhibit is currently featuring the Tortugas Pueblo with a vibrant display focused on their different dance groups. The Tortugas’ highlighted section will be closing March 14, so be sure to stop in before it’s gone!

Once you’re done at the Branigan Cultural Center, head over to the Museum of Art for “Sayaka Ganz: Reclaimed Creations!” Take in the wonder of the animals and art made of recycled materials.

Finally, stop by the Museum of Nature & Science where we will be hosting the “Cambios Climate Change Speaker Series” with guest speakers Dr. David Lightfoot and UNM graduate student Simon Doneski. Seating for their talk on local insect and arthropod species and so much more starts at 5:30pm and the talk goes from 6pm to 7:30pm. Stop by and learn something new about our world!
