The City of Las Cruces shared this update on behalf of the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT). Multiple construction projects are scheduled in the coming weeks and will impact travel throughout the area. Motorists should expect lane closures, reduced speeds, and intermittent ramp closures.
PROJECT SCHEDULE:
Thursday, March 26 – Tuesday, March 31
University Interchange
- Milling and repaving of northbound on-ramps and off-ramps

Wednesday, April 1
I-25 Northbound (Exit 0 to Exit 1 – University Ave/NM 101)
- Passing and driving lanes will be intermittently closed for paving
Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 10
I-25 (Both Directions)
- From mile marker 3.7 (near Lohman Ave) to mile marker 5.9 (just south of the I-25/U.S. 70 interchange)
- Crews will mill and pave all lanes in both directions
- Ramps at Lohman Ave and I-25/U.S. 70 will be intermittently closed as work progresses
Monday, April 13 – Wednesday, April 15
I-25 Northbound
- Paving operations will move to the northbound passing lane
- From Tortugas Bridge to Exit 1 (University Ave/NM 101 interchange)
Thursday, April 16 – Friday, April 17
US 70 (Both Directions)
- From mile marker 161 to 171
- Crews will complete paving operations
- The exit at mile marker 170 (White Sands Missile Range access) may be temporarily impacted
Sunday, April 19 – Wednesday, April 22 (Night Work Only)
NM 101 (University Ave)
- From NM 478 (South Main St) to just past College Ave
- Crews will mill and pave the roadway
- Work hours: 7 PM – 5 AM
What to Expect:
- Regular work hours: 7 AM – 5 PM, Monday–Friday (except night work dates)
- Reduced speed limits in all work zones
- Intermittent ramp closures, especially at intersections during milling and paving
