New Mexico MVD continues to warn about phishing websites

The only official MVD website is www.mvd.newmexico.gov. Additionally, the MVD will never reach out to customers via text to demand payment or issue threats, nor does New Mexico operate toll roads.

SANTA FE ─ The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division is alerting the public to fraudulent websites designed to look like the official MVD site to trick people into paying fake toll fines.

The only official MVD website is www.mvd.newmexico.gov. Additionally, the MVD will never reach out to customers via text to demand payment or issue threats, nor does New Mexico operate toll roads.

The fake websites, which appear to function primarily on mobile devices, may mimic MVD’s brand coloring, layout and page options. Screenshot examples are included at the end of this release.

“Scammers are always looking for new ways to take advantage of the public,” said Taxation and Revenue Department Secretary Stephanie Schardin Clarke “We want New Mexicans to stay a step ahead of scammers. MVD will never demand payment by text message, and we encourage everyone to double-check website addresses to protect themselves.”

MVD will work to take down any fraudulent websites.
