The Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education is still welcoming feedback from the community regarding the possible removal of the name Cesar Chavez from the elementary building named after him on Holman Road.

On Wednesday evening, the Board hosted a special session at Cesar Chavez Elementary. Several community members, including LCPS staff and Las Cruces residents, spoke both in favor of the name’s removal and preserving the school’s name as-is. No action was taken at the meeting; the special session agenda was specific to hearing public feedback.

Community members who wish to provide input may still do so by submitting comments via email to input@lcps.net. All feedback received through email will be compiled and shared with the Board of Education for consideration.
