MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — NM State showed grit and resilience in its opening round matchup of the Conference USA Tournament, nearly erasing an early deficit before falling 4-3 to Middle Tennessee at the Adams Tennis Complex.
Entering as the No. 7 seed, the Aggies dropped the doubles point after Middle Tennessee secured wins on courts two and three. The top doubles pairing of Nadia Nemeth and Whitney Moon saw their match go unfinished with a 5-3 lead.

Facing a 1-0 deficit, NM State responded with a strong showing in singles play to put pressure on the No. 10 seed.
Whitney Moon got the Aggies on the board with a straight-set victory, followed by Anna Pinaieva who delivered another key win to even the match. Montana Parkinson-Lubold continued her standout season with a hard-fought singles triumph, giving NM State its third point and putting the Aggies within reach of a comeback victory.
With momentum shifting, the Aggies battled across the remaining courts in tightly contested matches. Despite the push, Middle Tennessee managed to claim the final point needed to secure the match and halt NM State’s rally.
In what marked the final match of the season, the Aggies’ fight and determination were on full display as they pushed the contest to the brink after trailing early.
