Softball: Late Rally Comes Up Short for Aggies at MTSU

Carranza’s three-run homer fuels late Aggie comeback attempt

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – NM State battled throughout Saturday afternoon in the second game of its Conference USA series at Middle Tennessee. The Aggies generated steady offense and stayed within reach, highlighted by a late push in the seventh inning. Despite the comeback attempt, NM State came up short in a 7–5 loss at Blue Raider Softball Field. 

Game – Middle Tennessee 7, NM State 5 

NM State struck first in the opening inning with an RBI single from Johnna Aragon before adding another run in the third on an RBI hit by Skye Johnson. Trailing late, the Aggies mounted a three‑run rally in the seventh as Tamara Carranza delivered a three‑run home run to bring NM State within two. Middle Tennessee held on in the final moments to secure the win and even the series.
