Southern New Mexico programs brought home multiple blue trophies and podium finishes this week as the 2026 Nusenda Credit Union State Golf Championships concluded at courses across the state.

Knights Finish the Climb
After years of near misses, Organ Mountain High School finally brought home the blue trophy in Girls 5A competition.
The Knights posted rounds of 322 and 333 to finish at 655 overall, comfortably ahead of runner-up La Cueva High Schoolat 671 and Alamogordo High School at 677. The championship effort was powered by remarkable team depth.
Senior Eleanor Warden once again finished second individually, continuing one of the most consistent careers in recent state golf history. For the third consecutive season, Warden ended the tournament in the runner-up spot, and for the second consecutive year, a blistering second round by another competitor proved decisive.

Last season, Piedra Vista’s Annie Yost surged past Warden with a tournament-best 66. This year, La Cueva’s Kendall Trujillo closed with a field-best 73 to secure the individual championship, but 2026 carried a different ending for Warden. This time, she had a team around her.

Warden’s 77-78 performance helped anchor an Organ Mountain squad that placed three golfers inside the top five individually:
- Eleanor Warden — 2nd
- Sofia Torrez — T3rd (with Centennial’s Carly Moore)
- Alyssa Serna — 5th
That balance ultimately separated the Knights from the rest of the field and delivered the program’s state title.
Cross-town rival Centennial High School also secured a top-four finish in Girls 5A, finishing fourth overall at 716. Centennial’s Carly Moore tied for third individually after consistent rounds of 80 and 80.
Hawks Crack Top Five in Boys 5A
In Boys 5A competition at New Mexico State University Golf Course, Centennial finished fifth overall behind team champion La Cueva High School.
The Hawks posted rounds of 321 and 312.
Centennial’s top individual performer was Ty Dollar, who rebounded from an opening-round 79 with an impressive 72 on Day Two to finish tied for sixth overall at 151.
SonBlazers Continue Their Dynasty
Meanwhile, at Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort, the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers continued one of the quiet dynasties in New Mexico prep sports.

Mesilla Valley Christian captured its fifth consecutive boys team championship in A-3A competition, posting rounds of 331 and 318 to finish ahead of Dexter and Santa Fe Indian School.
And fittingly, the latest title came in the same fashion as the previous four—not through one dominant superstar, but through relentless team consistency. The SonBlazers placed four golfers inside the top 10 individually:
- Cade Horton — 5th
- Beau Barker — 6th
- Tanner Gentry — 7th
- Nolan Jensen — tied for 10th
Remarkably, Mesilla Valley Christian secured another state championship despite not producing the tournament’s individual medalist. Socorro’s Isaiah Silva claimed the top individual score at 149. Instead, the SonBlazers once again demonstrated the value of balanced scoring throughout the lineup — the same formula that has now produced five straight blue trophies for the program.
The 2026 state championships were played May 11-12 across multiple sites statewide, including New Mexico State University Golf Course, New Mexico Tech Golf Course and Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort.
