Jones founded Mesilla Valley Transportation in 1982. Since then, the company has grown into one of the largest privately-owned trucking companies in the Southwest, operating more than 1,700 trucks and 7,000 trailers throughout the United States and Canada.

Beyond business, Jones has become widely recognized throughout our broader community for supporting students, youth activities, veterans, educators, foster children, domestic violence survivors, and numerous local charitable efforts. Through MVT’s annual charity golf tournament alone, more than half a million dollars has been raised for community causes over the years.

DACC officials noted that the honorary degree represents the college’s highest recognition for individuals who demonstrate exceptional distinction and service to both the institution and the community it serves.

Thursday evening’s commencement ceremonies brought together graduates, families, faculty, and supporters from across the region in celebration of the latest class of DACC students as they marked the next chapter in their academic and professional journeys.
