LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State Aggies Head Coach Jason Hooten has continued to build his staff ahead of the 2026-27 season with the addition of Isaiah Brooks-Sena as an assistant coach.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Zeke to our staff,” said Hooten. “He possesses many of the same qualities I’ve seen in the young assistants who have gone on to become highly successful in this profession — intelligent, hardworking, dependable, team-oriented and a true competitor.”

Brooks-Sena arrives in Las Cruces after spending the last two season as Director of Scouting and Analytics at Oklahoma State Cowboys under head coach Steve Lutz. In his first season in Stillwater, the Cowboys improved by five wins, climbed more than 30 spots in the NCAA NET rankings and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT. Oklahoma State also posted back-to-back NIT appearances during his tenure while producing professional talent in Bryce Thompson and Abou Ousmane.
Brooks-Sena assisted in all aspects of scouting and recruiting while helping Oklahoma State play at one of the fastest tempos in the country, ranking among the nation’s top-12 teams in adjusted tempo during the 2025-26 season after finishing ninth nationally the year prior.
“Zeke has the ability to wear many different hats and make an impact on our program in a variety of ways,” Hooten added. “Just as importantly, he was born and raised in our great state, so he truly understands what Aggie basketball means to so many people and the pride that comes with representing this program.”
Prior to Oklahoma State, Brooks-Sena served as Director of Operations and Scouting at Western Kentucky Hilltoppers during the 2023-24 campaign. He helped guide the Hilltoppers to 22 wins, a Conference USA Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. During his time in Bowling Green, Brooks-Sena earned his master’s degree in recreation and sport administration with a concentration in intercollegiate athletic administration.
Before his stop at Western Kentucky, Brooks-Sena spent the 2022-23 season as video coordinator at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders. That season, the Islanders captured both the Southland Conference regular-season and tournament championships while earning the first NCAA Tournament victory in school history.
Brooks-Sena also spent time as a graduate assistant at Akron Zips under head coach John Groce. During the 2021-22 season, Akron won 24 games, claimed the MAC Tournament title and earned the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in nine years. Brooks-Sena also helped develop Enrique Freeman, who was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 50th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Brooks-Sena began his collegiate basketball journey as a student manager at University of New Mexico Lobos under former head coach Paul Weir, who previously served as the 25th head coach at New Mexico State Aggies during the 2016-17 season after spending nine years on the Aggies’ staff, including five as associate head coach. Brooks-Sena served as head manager during his final season with the Lobos and graduated from New Mexico in 2021 with a degree in business administration and a concentration in marketing.
While at New Mexico, Brooks-Sena also coached youth teams through Laguna Sports Academy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Native American children through athletics and academics.
“I look forward to watching our student-athletes benefit from Coach Brooks-Sena’s daily investment in them, both on and off the court, as he helps our team succeed and prepares our players to succeed in life,” Hooten said.
