NMDOT: Roadwork Scheduled for May 24-31

Motorists across southern New Mexico can expect continued construction activity and intermittent lane closures through the week of May 24–31, according to the latest traffic report from the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Along US 70 in Las Cruces, utility installation and roadway reconstruction work continues near mile markers 152 to 153 on Bataan Memorial Highway. Drivers should expect eastbound lane impacts through mid-July.

On University Avenue/NM 101, overnight lane closures remain in place for manhole cover repairs between Main Street and College Avenue.

Meanwhile, the University Avenue Multimodal Project in Mesilla is nearing completion. Most lanes are now open, though temporary lane closures may still occur as crews finalize work. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for May 28 near Zia Middle School.

In Chaparral, the roadway widening project on NM 213 and NM 404 remains suspended due to ongoing construction-related issues.

Within the City of Las Cruces, reconstruction work on North Melendres Street between Hadley and Picacho continues, with through-traffic restricted until at least June 8.

Just across the state line, TXDOT reports nighttime closures on eastbound Interstate 10 near Anthony on May 28 for striping repairs associated with the I-10 widening project. Additional lane closures and traffic shifts are expected throughout the El Paso Borderland Expressway construction zone during the week.

Elsewhere in southern New Mexico, ongoing road projects include paving, roadway rehabilitation, chip seal operations, and utility work in areas including Deming, Columbus, Lordsburg, Socorro, Truth or Consequences, and along portions of I-10 and I-25.

Drivers are reminded to reduce speed in work zones, watch for crews and equipment, and obey all posted traffic controls.
