Sunland Park Firefighters Rescue Kitten Found Inside Vehicle Engine Compartment

According to the Sunland Park Fire Department, personnel safely removed the kitten from the vehicle and turned it over to Animal Control following the rescue.

SUNLAND PARK — Firefighters in Sunland Park came to the rescue of a much smaller resident Wednesday morning after discovering a kitten trapped inside the engine compartment of a vehicle on the 100 block of Meadow Vista.

According to the Sunland Park Fire Department, personnel safely removed the kitten from the vehicle and turned it over to Animal Control following the rescue.

While firefighters are often associated with emergency calls involving fires, crashes, and medical incidents, departments across southern New Mexico also regularly respond to animal-related calls ranging from pets trapped in storm drains to animals endangered by extreme heat.

No injuries were reported, and judging by the photos released by the department, the kitten appeared to emerge from the ordeal in good hands.
