Track & Field: Aggies Conclude Season at NCAA West First Round

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Following an impressive showing to finish fourth at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, a quartet of Aggies – all achieving at least one podium finish in Murfreesboro – suited up once more for the Crimson & White at the 2026 NCAA West First Round, hosted by the University of Arkansas.

Thursday
Opening the weekend of action in Fayetteville, Alesha Lane and Kamryn Cadle competed in the shot put. After taking first and third, respectively, in the event at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the duo tallied marks of 14.04 meters and 13.70m.
 
In the 100m dash, Marlee Cavitt represented the Crimson & White in her first of two events on the day. In a competitive heat including five athletes who advanced to nationals, the 2026 CUSA 100m champion Cavitt crossed the line with a time of 11.61.
 
Less than two hours later, Cavitt returned to the track at John McDonnell Field for the 200m dash, where the Sacramento, Calif., native posted a finishing time of 23.96.

Saturday
After taking part in the shot put on Thursday, Alesha Lane competed in her second event of the weekend, the discus toss. Taking third at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the senior from Casper, Wyo., recorded a best mark of 52.00m (170-7″) to take 19^th overall – the highest finish among Crimson & White members on the weekend.
 
The CUSA champion and school record holder in the 3000m steeplechase, Nia Allison, took part in the event in Arkansas, posting a time of 10:30.80 to close the weekend.
 
UP NEXT
NM State returns to competition this fall, when the Aggies open the 2026 cross country season at the Lori Fitzgerald Memorial Open in Las Cruces. The Aggies will look to improve upon their runner-up finish in the 2025 Conference USA Cross Country Championships.
