Three people were injured Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Pete Domenici Highway and Strauss Road, according to emergency responders.

Crews from Doña Ana Fire Rescue and the Sunland Park Fire Department were dispatched to the scene shortly after 10:20 a.m. Emergency personnel found multiple injured occupants and requested additional medical resources.

One person sustained injuries serious enough to require air transport by the El Paso Fire Department’s STAR 1 helicopter. Two additional patients were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals for treatment.

The cause of the crash has not been released. Traffic in the area was affected while emergency crews worked to assist patients and clear the scene.
