Las Cruces students will have an opportunity to spend part of their summer building confidence, learning practical life skills and exploring entrepreneurship through the 2026 Kids Can Summer Camps, scheduled June 22-26 at Camino Real Middle School.

Organized through the Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico, the Kids Can program uses hands-on activities and project-based learning to help young people develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Program organizers say participants learn valuable lessons in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, financial literacy and goal setting while building self-confidence and exploring their own talents and interests.
The program is designed to help young people recognize their potential while developing leadership skills that can benefit them throughout their education and future careers. Organizers also emphasize resilience, creativity and entrepreneurship, encouraging students to think independently, develop innovative ideas and learn how to turn those ideas into action.
This year’s summer camps will offer four themed experiences, each focused on a different set of skills and interests:
The Babysitting Club
Learn essential babysitting skills, safety tips, leadership, and responsibility.
Jr. Chefs & the Kids Café
Cook, create, and discover the joy of preparing delicious treats and meals.
Business Builders (Youth Entrepreneur Camp)
Develop innovative ideas, learn business fundamentals, and explore entrepreneurship.
Lemonade Kids
Build confidence, teamwork, and business skills through hands-on activities and fun challenges.
