Border Patrol, Military Personnel Conduct Joint Medical Training Along Southern Border

Military personnel assigned to Joint Task Force–Southern Border recently conducted casualty care and medical evacuation training alongside U.S. Border Patrol emergency medical technicians as part of ongoing interagency preparedness efforts.

According to the task force, the training focused on standardized medical protocols intended to improve coordination between military and federal law enforcement personnel operating along the southern border.

The exercise involved hospital corpsmen assigned to Joint Task Force–Southern Border and Border Patrol EMTs practicing casualty care and medical evacuation procedures. Officials said the training helps ensure personnel from different agencies can provide seamless medical support during emergencies.

Regional Mission Based in El Paso

The training is one example of the broader mission carried out by Joint Task Force–Southern Border, a Department of Defense organization headquartered in El Paso.

According to task force materials, the organization coordinates military support for federal border security operations across California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Participating units include active-duty military, National Guard personnel, aviation assets, engineers and logistics teams working alongside federal law enforcement agencies.

The task force’s responsibilities include surveillance support, mobility operations, infrastructure improvements, drone detection capabilities and emergency response coordination across multiple sectors of the southern border.

Officials say joint training exercises such as the recent medical evacuation drill help ensure personnel from different agencies can operate together effectively when called upon to respond to emergencies.
