With the start of the 2026-27 school year just over a month away, Las Cruces Public Schools has published recommended school supply lists for elementary, middle and high school students, giving families an opportunity to begin planning for back-to-school shopping.
The timing coincides with Amazon Prime Day, a four-day online shopping event for Amazon Prime members that runs from June 23 through June 26. First introduced in 2015, Prime Day has become one of the company’s largest annual sales events and frequently includes discounts on school supplies, electronics and other back-to-school items.

The district noted that several basic supplies will continue to be provided for students in kindergarten through fifth grade, including pencils, glue sticks, tissue and wide-ruled lined paper.
Families will find separate recommended supply lists for elementary, middle and high school students in the accompanying images.
While many families take advantage of summer sales events to purchase notebooks, folders, backpacks, calculators and other classroom materials, district officials emphasized that the published lists are recommendations and may be supplemented by individual teachers once the school year begins.
The first day of school for kindergarten, sixth-grade and ninth-grade students is Friday, July 24. All remaining students will return to class Monday, July 27.
Families needing assistance obtaining school supplies are encouraged to contact their child’s school directly. Additional back-to-school information is expected to be released by the district throughout the summer.
