Summer temperatures are heating up across southern New Mexico, and so are our roadways. Hot pavement and underinflated or worn tires can lead to dangerous blowouts, creating hazards for everyone on the road.
Just this past weekend, NMDOT maintenance crews removed three full truckloads of tire debris from I-10, I-25, and US 70 in the Las Cruces area alone.
Before your next trip:
- Check tire pressure
- Inspect tread and sidewalls for damage
- Don’t overload your vehicle
- Replace worn tires
If you see tire debris or other roadway hazards, report it immediately. A quick call could help prevent a crash and save a life.
