Sunland Park Reopens Intersection Following Sinkhole Repairs

Barricades and traffic control devices have since been removed, and the roadway has been deemed safe for normal travel.

SUNLAND PARK — The intersection of Futurity Drive and Trifecta Lane has reopened to traffic after city crews completed emergency assessments and repairs related to a sinkhole.

The intersection was temporarily closed while crews evaluated the roadway, secured the area and repaired damage caused by the sinkhole. Barricades and traffic control devices have since been removed, and the roadway has been deemed safe for normal travel.

City officials thanked residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation while the intersection remained closed and drivers were asked to use alternate routes.

No additional information has been released regarding the cause of the sinkhole. Normal traffic has resumed through the intersection.
