LAS CRUCES — The Doña Ana County Board of County Commissioners recognized the Mayfield High School Lady Trojans during its meeting Tuesday, honoring the team for capturing the 2026 New Mexico Class 5A State Softball Championship.

The recognition celebrated a season that saw the Lady Trojans finish 29-2, claim the program’s first-ever state softball championship, and secure the title with a 20-2 victory in the championship game. The team also hit an impressive 98 home runs during its historic season.
County commissioners congratulated the players, coaches, families and supporters whose dedication and teamwork helped make the championship possible, recognizing the accomplishment as a source of pride for the entire Doña Ana County community.
