Marine Corps League Serves as Color Guard for Fourth of July Events

As the community celebrated America’s 250th Anniversary, the Color Guard helped honor the nation’s flag and recognize those who have served in the armed forces.

LAS CRUCES — Members of the Marine Corps League El Perro Diablo Detachment #478 served as the Color Guard for both the Stars, Stripes & City Lights Electric Light Parade and the City of Las Cruces’ Fourth of July Celebration at Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park.

As the community celebrated America’s 250th Anniversary, the Color Guard helped honor the nation’s flag and recognize those who have served in the armed forces.

The Color Guard included Jeffrey Eakman (U.S. Marine Corps), Richard Turk (U.S. Air Force), Bruce Kemper (U.S. Air Force), Clemente Morales (U.S. Marine Corps), and Victor Durham (U.S. Navy).

City officials thanked the veterans for their continued service to the community and for their longstanding participation in Las Cruces’ annual Independence Day celebrations.
