The continued fare-free service reflects a broader effort across New Mexico to encourage the use of public transportation. According to the New Mexico Department of Transportation, Park and Ride passengers saved an average of $713 per month during fiscal year 2025 compared with commuting alone in a private vehicle, while fares averaged approximately 7 cents per mile.

NMDOT also reported that Park and Ride services removed an estimated 6.7 million vehicle miles from New Mexico highways during peak commuting periods, reducing gasoline consumption by more than 334,000 gallons and preventing approximately 2,679 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Officials say public transportation not only helps reduce travel costs but also eases traffic congestion while providing residents with additional transportation options throughout New Mexico.
