Motorists traveling through Las Cruces and southern New Mexico should expect continued construction delays this week as several highway improvement projects remain underway, including guardrail replacement on Interstate 25 north of Las Cruces and roadway work at the Lohman Avenue and Walnut Street intersection.

Las Cruces
Lohman Avenue & Walnut Street
Outside lanes approaching the Lohman Avenue and Walnut Street intersection remain closed through approximately Friday, July 24, while crews complete roadway and traffic signal improvements. Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes during peak travel periods.
Interstate 25
Las Cruces to Doña Ana (Mile Markers 6–14.2)
Guardrail and concrete barrier replacement continues north of Las Cruces. Lane closures remain in place in both directions, with reduced speed limits throughout the construction zone. Crews are working weekdays from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Truth or Consequences (Mile Markers 70–85)
Roadway rehabilitation continues near Cuchillo with lane closures in both directions for guardrail work. Construction is scheduled weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with occasional weekend work possible.
South of Socorro (Mile Markers 125–139)
Final paving work, including rumble strip installation and pavement markings, continues with lane closures and reduced speed limits.

State Highways
- NM 213 / NM 404 (Chaparral)
The roadway widening project remains suspended because of construction-related issues. Work is expected to resume in mid- to late August. - NM 11 – Columbus Port of Entry
Paving has been completed near the Port of Entry. Guardrail installation continues, and temporary lane closures with flagging operations may occur through the fall. - Luna County Chip Seal Projects
Chip seal operations continue on several state highways and frontage roads around Deming. Drivers should expect temporary stops, pilot vehicles and loose gravel in active work areas.
Southbound Travelers
Drivers heading toward El Paso should be aware of several TXDOT projects.
Nightly closures continue this week on Interstate 10 between Transmountain Road and Artcraft Road while crews install steel girders as part of the Artcraft Project. Additional daytime lane closures remain in effect on U.S. 54 during construction of the Borderland Expressway Phase 2.
White Sands Missile Range
Motorists planning to travel near White Sands Missile Range should continue to monitor potential missile range closures by calling (575) 678-1178 or (575) 678-2222 before traveling.
