Doña Ana County Clerk responds to presidential address on election security

Following President Donald Trump’s nationally televised address on election security, in which he raised concerns about U.S. election systems and announced the release of newly declassified intelligence related to foreign election interference, election officials in several states responded by outlining the safeguards already in place within their own election processes. 

Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin issued the following statement regarding election administration in New Mexico:

County election officials have emphasized that New Mexico’s election system includes multiple layers of verification and public oversight throughout the voting, canvassing and certification process. The statement was released in response to the President’s remarks and reflects the county clerk’s position on the administration of elections in New Mexico.
