Kids Discover Composting: A Step Towards Sustainability

The Nature Friends kids helped put some of this new compost to use by planting flowers and learning how everyday kitchen scraps can become a valuable resource instead of ending up in the landfill.

City of Las Cruces Utilities Solid Waste was excited to welcome the Nature Friends group to our Food Compost Site earlier in the month. Solid Waste Manager Philip Glasson shared with the kids how our community continues to expand its sustainability efforts.

During their visit, the Nature Friends kids helped put some of this new compost to use by planting flowers and learning how everyday kitchen scraps can become a valuable resource instead of ending up in the landfill.
