On July 2nd, 2026, Mesilla Marshals Detective and Crime Scene Team responded to Anthony, NM as an agency assist callout by Anthony Police.
MRVDA dispatch sent Anthony Police Officers to the Anthony RV Park on Anthony Drive reference a male subject who was stabbed and collapsed at the RV office.
The injured victim who lives in his RV trailer shared it with his ex-military friend. His friend identified as Alejandro Mustafat began to strike the victim with his fist while he was asleep on the couch. As the victim was trying to defend himself, Mustafat removed a knife from his pant pocket and repeatedly stabbed the victim.
The victim was bleeding profusely from his stab wounds and escaped running to the RV Office, when a tenant who was present called 911.
Mustafat left the scene and drove to the DASO sub-station on Anthony Dr. and called 911, saying he was stabbed. Anthony Police and DASO deputies arrived and noticed Mustafat had blood on his face and clothing. As Anthony Police Detective spoke with Mustafat, he yelled he had ‘Brutally Stabbed Him’ meaning his friend the victim.
Mesilla Marshals Crime Scene Team arrived to assist in processing the RV trailer and located the bloody knife. Anthony PD Detective was assisted by Mesilla Marshals Detective in the investigation and determined Mustafat was not stabbed.
The victim was transported by ambulance to El Paso University Medical Center and admitted for the serious injuries. Detectives determined the victim had 26 knife wounds throughout his body and head.
Mustafat was arrested on an arrest warrant at the Anthony Police Department when he arrived for an interview. Mustafat was charged with (Attempted Murder) Assault with Intent To Commit a Violent Felony and Aggravated Battery may have caused Death or Great Bodily Harm.
On July 22nd, Mustafat was ordered by District Judge Perea to remain incarcerated and considered a danger to the victim and public.
Anthony Police working alongside with Mesilla Marshals Office was committed in seeking justice for the victim and the protection of the Town of Anthony, NM.
