Former New Mexico State quarterback Diego Pavia has been waived by the Baltimore Ravens, ending his first opportunity to earn a spot on an NFL roster before the start of training camp. The Ravens announced the roster move Thursday to make room for veteran center Ethan Pocic, who recently signed with the club.

Pavia joined Baltimore as an undrafted free agent following a standout college career that began at New Mexico Military Institute before continuing at New Mexico State and later Vanderbilt. During his two seasons with the Aggies, he helped lead NM State to one of the program’s most successful stretches in recent history, earning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2023 before transferring to Vanderbilt. There, Pavia led the Commodores to a breakthrough 2025 season, finished as the Heisman Trophy runner-up and captured the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards.

Baltimore signed Pavia shortly after the 2026 NFL Draft, giving him an opportunity to compete for a roster spot behind former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. The Ravens’ decision trims the quarterback room as the team prepares for training camp. If Pavia clears waivers, he will become a free agent and will be eligible to sign with another NFL team.
