Moviegoers may have to suspend disbelief when great white sharks appear in the desert, but the locations are unmistakably southern New Mexico. Shark Frenzy, released today by independent film studio The Asylum, was filmed in Las Cruces and at Elephant Butte Lake, bringing another feature production to the region.

The film is one of two shark-themed productions the studio completed in southern New Mexico earlier this year. According to Film Las Cruces, production utilized locations throughout the Mesilla Valley, with additional filming at Elephant Butte Lake, while employing local cast and crew members and showcasing the region’s diverse landscapes.
