Fire Station Two Hosts Ribbon-Cutting for “Cultivating Community”

The City of Las Cruces hosted a ribbon-cutting on Thursday, July 30, for Cultivating Community, a vibrant new mural brightening Fire Station 2.

Artist Faridi Buhaya transformed a blank exterior wall into a colorful tribute to the history, culture, and community pride of the Chiva Town neighborhood. What began as an effort to reduce graffiti grew into a meaningful public art installation through the City’s Public Art Program.

The event featured remarks from artist Faridi Buhaya, Mayor Eric Enriquez, District 3 Councilor Michael Harris, and Quality of Life Director Carol Brey. Their collaboration with Las Cruces Fire, Las Cruces Public Art, and local residents brought this project to life.
