SANTA FE, N.M. – The 57 students of Basic Leader Course Class 007-26 successfully tackled night and day land navigation here July 23.
Students began the night course at 2:30 a.m. and the day course at 7:15 a.m. For each course, students had to locate four points within three hours. Rain that night made for muddy terrain with standing water in spots.
“The students remained positive and motivated. Many students found their points well under the three-hour time limit,” said Lt. Col. Denise Vargas, commander of 1st Battalion, 515th Regiment (Regional Training Institute).
1st Battalion administers the Basic Leader Course.
The class is scheduled to graduate on Tuesday, July 28.
