Scam Alert: Fraudulent QR Codes on ChargePoint EV Chargers

If you see a suspicious QR code sticker on one of our EV chargers, please do not scan it!

The City of Las Cruces has recently been made aware of fraudulent QR code stickers placed on our ChargePoint EV chargers.

These stickers are not affiliated with ChargePoint or the City of Las Cruces. They are part of a phishing scam designed to trick users into providing personal or payment information.

Please remember:

• Do not scan QR code stickers to pay for charging.
• ChargePoint does not require QR codes for payment.
• Drivers can pay through the ChargePoint app using a ChargePoint account, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal. Many public ChargePoint stations also accept contactless credit/debit cards or telephone payments, depending on the charger model.

If you see a suspicious QR code sticker on one of our EV chargers, please do not scan it! If you believe you scanned one of these fraudulent QR codes or entered payment information, contact ChargePoint Driver Support at 1-888-758-4389 as soon as possible and monitor your financial accounts for unauthorized activity.
