The Sunland Park Police Department will conduct a DWI checkpoint Friday, Aug. 21, as part of its efforts to discourage impaired driving.

The department announced the checkpoint in advance while reminding motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol, arrange for a sober driver and avoid driving while impaired.
Sunland Park Police did not provide a location or specific operating hours for Friday’s checkpoint in its announcement.

The department summarized its message to motorists simply: “Drive Sober. Arrive Safe.”
