New Mexico State University ROTC and public safety agencies from NMSU and the City of Las Cruces will come together Sept. 11 for a Memorial Stair Climb marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will begin at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

NMSU ROTC is coordinating the event with NMSU Police and Fire and the Las Cruces Police and Fire departments. Members of the broader community are also invited to participate.

Organizers describe the climb as an opportunity to remember and honor the first responders who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, with participants climbing the stadium stairs as an act of remembrance.

“Whether you’re climbing alone or with friends, this event is all about remembrance and respect within our community,” organizers said in announcing the event.

The memorial is scheduled from 7 to 10 a.m., according to the event listing.

Participants can register in advance through the NMSU ROTC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Eventbrite page.
