Doña Ana County residents can dispose of unwanted passenger vehicle tires and have their pets vaccinated during a community event Saturday, Aug. 29, in Chaparral.
The event will be held at the Betty McKnight Community Center, 190 S. County Line Drive, with free tire disposal available from 8 a.m. to noon, or until collection containers are full.
Residents can bring unwanted rimless passenger vehicle tires for disposal at no charge. Semi and tractor tires will not be accepted.
The tire collection is part of the county’s effort to encourage proper disposal of unwanted tires and help keep communities clean.
Pet Vaccinations Available
Doña Ana County Animal Control will offer pet vaccinations at the same location from 8 to 11:45 a.m.
Dogs must be brought on a leash and cats must be secured in a carrier. Animals must be healthy and at least 3 months old to receive a rabies vaccination.
Appointments for the vaccination clinic are encouraged and can be scheduled online through the county’s provided appointment system.
