When you move your body regularly, you’re not just getting stronger and improving your balance — you’re also giving yourself one of the best defenses against falls. “The best part? It doesn’t have to be complicated!”

In the video link below, I’ll show you how it’s done.

Try this balance move: Heel-to-Toe Walk

You’ll place one foot directly in front of the other, heel to toe, like walking a tightrope. Arms out, core engaged. Do it along a wall for extra support.

More tips to stay steady on your feet
  • Get enough sleep — aim for 7-9 hours a night.
  • Stand up slowly to avoid dizziness.
  • Wear nonskid, rubber-soled, low-heeled shoes.
When to talk with your doctor

Talk with your doctor if you are having any balance or dizziness issues. It could be the result of a medication you’re taking.

Also, ask your doctor about physical therapy. If your doctor thinks you need it, Medicare covers it so you can stay strong, independent, and on your feet.

Dr. Oz concluded his information email by stating: “Every small step adds up to a safer, more confident you.”
