Marisol Richardson Named Director Of Office Of Performance And Budget Prompting Resignation As County Treasurer

The Doña Ana County Treasurer Marisol Richardson has been named the Director of Office of Performance and Budget, transitioning from her current role as County Treasurer.

Richardson transitioned into her new role on August 10 and will continue serving Doña Ana County in her new capacity.  As Director of the Office of Performance and Budget, Richardson will focus on building strong teams, mentoring employees and developing programs that support organizational success. 

“It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to serve as County Treasurer,” Richardson said. “Over the past year and a half, I have had the opportunity to work alongside dedicated public servants who serve our community with integrity and professionalism. I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the voters, the Board of County Commissioners and my colleagues.”

Lucio Luttrell, one of the Acting County Managers, said Richardson’s experience and leadership will be an asset to the Office of Performance and Budget. 

“Marisol has demonstrated a strong commitment to Doña Ana County and the people we serve,” Acting County Manager, Lucio Luttrell said. “I look forward to working with her in this new role and I’m excited to see the positive impact, leadership and perspective she will bring to the team.”

Richardson said she is looking forward to continuing her service to the County in her new role. 

“I am incredibly proud of the work that our local government does every day,” Richardson said. “I am excited to continue contributing to Doña Ana County and to serving its residents in this next chapter.”

Richardson’s transition to the Office of Performance and Budget creates a vacancy in the Office of the County Treasurer. In the interim, the Treasurer’s Office continues to be overseen by Deputy Treasurer Eric Rodriguez, ensuring continuity of operations and services.

The Board of County Commissioners is expected to discuss next steps in regard to the County Treasurers Office at its regular meeting on September 22. 

“While my service as County Treasurer has concluded, I remain with Doña Ana County in a new role and am available to provide support as needed during the transition. I am committed to helping ensure continuity and a smooth handoff of responsibilities,” Richardson said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the residents of Doña Ana County in this new role.”

The County will continue to provide additional information regarding the transition within the Treasurer’s Office as it becomes available.
